Country: Mongolia
Period: 07/2024 to ongoing
Organization: Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Description of project:
The project demonstrates renewable heating system viability in rural areas of Mongolia and build capacity to support scaled up use of cleaner heating technologies. The project supports deployment of renewable heating supply technologies and energy efficiency measures in buildings in two or more remote communities.
In the framework of the Renewable Heating Demonstration in Remote Areas Project, granted by ADB and the Mongolian Ministry of Energy. One aim is to transform coal-fired hospitals to energy efficient and and clean (renewable) heating solutions.
There are many similar buildings, especially in rural areas, which have a huge potential for optimization. Improving insulation and exchanging the heating system with a more sustainable alternative would not only help to reduce CO2 emissions and reach Mongolian climate targets, but also improve air quality during the cold months.
