Description of project:
Envidatec runs a public-private partnership (PPP) through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). The aim was to build an Energy Efficiency Network (EEN) in Uganda and to establish various energy efficiency services in order to increase energy efficiency in the Ugandan industrial sector. The project includes several trainings, energy audits and implementation of energy efficiency measures.
Activities undertaken:
- Energy audits in various industries, such as milk, tea, grain and coffee processing, to identify potential savings
- Feasibility studies to develop measures from the energy audit into bankable projects
- Financing of projects
- Measurement and verification of measures
- Workshops and trainings for members of the network
- Training of banks in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy funding
- Strengthening the local financial sector for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy financing
